RNU Science Week 2026

Riga Nordic University (RNU) in cooperation with the European Safety, Reliability & Data Association (ESReDA) is organising the RNU SCIENCE WEEK 2026, the main event of which will be the 68th ESReDA Seminar / ITM Conference. The event will take place on 13. – 15. May in Riga, Latvia.

The conference focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to resilience assessment in critical infrastructures and digital systems. The event will serve as an international scientific platform for in-depth reflection and interdisciplinary dialogue on current challenges, methodologies and innovations in assessing and strengthening resilience of complex socio-technical systems.

Particular attention will be paid to the integration of different disciplines, including engineering, data science, cyber-physical systems, human factors research and policy analysis, to enhance the robustness, adaptability and resilience of critical systems. The conference aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of how multi-dimensional approaches can improve security, reliability and sustainability in a rapidly digitising environment.

The RNU SCIENCE WEEK programme comprises three thematically structured days:

  • 13 May – Community Building Day, including academic community-building activities and student research sessions;
  • 14 May – Science Day, with plenary lectures by invited speakers and parallel scientific sessions;
  • 15 May – Collaboration and Impact Day, focusing on collaborative panel discussions between academia and industry, technology demonstrations and discussions on improving safety and reliability through new technologies.

The main venue for the scientific sessions will be the Baltic Beach Hotel in Jurmala, where special accommodation arrangements will be made for conference participants.

The conference proceedings will be published in an open access technical report format, and the six highest ranked papers will be nominated for publication in a special issue of the Latvian Journal of Physical and Technical Sciences.

RNU SCIENCE WEEK 2026 and the 68th ESReDA Workshop will provide an important international forum for knowledge exchange, the development of new research directions and the creation of sustainable collaborations in the field of security, reliability and resilience of digital systems.
